Medical Insurance Companies to be Charged for Ambulance Service in Dubai

The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) has announced the implementation the “self-finance strategy” for ambulance services in Dubai. The new strategy will ask medical insurance companies to include emergency ambulance services as part of their health insurance plans. Following the start of this strategy, patients who need ambulance services will be asked to show insurance cards to ambulance staff.

ACCUMED Practice Management signed an agreement with DCAS to manage insurance company relations and billing services. DCAS prepares to roll out the new strategy by September this year.

This new strategy aims to improve emergency services in the country, by making it a part of the mandatory health insurance coverage. The project will also drive enhancements in ambulance services and increase DCAS personnel, boosting the medical assistance industry in the city.
